CONNECT for Mental Health Inc. is pleased to announce “Let’s CONNECT!” “Let’s CONNECT!” is a weekly peer support group, where community members engage with and support each other through their shared experiences with mental health and addiction, as well as, their personal journeys towards recovery. “Let’s CONNECT!” is an opportunity for individuals to gain support from others who have “been there”. The 1 1/2 hour group takes place in a safe non-judgemental environment and provides an opportunity for individuals to share how their lives are going, with a focus on wellness and recovery. Our facilitators are volunteers and have been trained in peer support and facilitation skills. Starting the week of January 8th. This group is open to anyone who feels they could benefit from peer support in a group setting. Stay tuned for details, coming through the website and on our facebook page.
PEARS is a six week series for young people ages 12 – 17. Registration is open for the winter session. The winter session starts Thursday, January 18th and you can register now by contacting Barbara at email@example.com. As a firm believer in launching a discourse amongst youth, Connect for Mental Health is proud to partner with the Psychological Education, Awareness, and Reduction of Stigma (PEARS) mental health education program alongside King’s University College. PEARS teaches youth to be self-aware when faced with mental health issues while providing a strong toolbox of knowledge filled with coping skills. Through six lessons, the program creates mindfulness and reduces stigmatization. The program is comprehensive and research-based while remaining interactive and engaging. As we aim to end the stigma surrounding mental health issues, PEARS is a strong program that provides attitudinal changes and helps future generations live healthy.
